Pink Elephants Sequence from Dumbo (1941)

This clip has always haunted me as a child… And I was immediately reminded of it after watching Vertigo. I’ve always assumed since then that it was a “child-friendly” (not really) take on the Vertigo sequence, but turns out this one came earlier!
